Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I find out the size to put after the part number on clothing

A:  You will need to put the size code after the part number like this

98135-05VM/000S = SMALL /000M = MEDIUM /000L = LARGE /002L = XL /022L = XXL /222L = XXXL

Q: How can you guarantee a VAT free price, saving me money? Won't I have to pay on delivery/collection?

A: In the United Kingdom some items, for example, items at £15.00 are below the required VAT level.

In certain cases you may be required to pay the VAT on collection.

If you do have to pay VAT on any Harley-Davidson product (bought online only, telephone orders will not benefit from this offer) from Jersey Harley-Davidson, simply scan and email the VAT receipt to (this must be the bill with the full breakdown of charges) tony@jerseyh-d.com or fax the VAT receipt to us on 01534 280154 and we will ensure that your account is credited in full for the VAT, any other charges are not covered, this is for VAT charges only.

Customers outside of the UK will not benefit from our VAT free offer.

You will be responsible for any sales tax, VAT and import duties. Jersey Harley-Davidson will not refund any taxes to non-UK delivery addresses or non-UK credit card addresses.

Q: How long will it take for my goods to arrive?

A: You must understand that we can't keep all items in stock and we have to order the majority of parts from Harley-Davidsons warehouse in Belgium, (even they can't keep everything in stock and have to get some from the USA).

We make every effort to get your goods off to you at the earliest oportunity. Should there be a delay of over 2 weeks to get them in from Harley we will send an email letting you know of the expected delay (so long as the information given by our supplier to us is correct).

All orders that we receive should be with you within 2 weeks if the parts are in stock. Most items will be insured and "trackable" and not withstanding restraints caused by post-office limitations, general acts of god, etc. we will deliver on time.

Q: I live outside of the UK, how much import duty will I be required to pay?

A: You will need to contact your country's authorities and enquire with them.

In many countries we expect that you can still make a significant saving.

Q: How much will I have to pay for post and packaging

A: The postage scale is as follows
Normal charges to the UK are
Under £50 £4.95
£50 - £100 £6.95
£100 - £250 £12.95
£250 - £500 £19.45
£500 - £650 £23.45
Over £650 Free

Q: How much will I have to pay for post and packaging if I live outside the UK?

A: Normal shipping charge to the rest of the world
Under £50 £9.95
£50 - £100 £12.95
£100 - £250 £22.95
£250 + £37

Q: When is the paymen taken from my Debit/Credit card

A: Payment is taken at the moment of order.

Once a customer orders we have to order the part from Harley and unlike you we can’t cancel the part coming from Harley. So when customers decide to cancel we have to keep the part and a 20% cancelation fee has to be charged.

If a part is cancelled that is on back order we can issue a full refund for that part without the 20% re-stocking charge. Please cancel at the time of notification of a back ordered part to avoid the 20% as once it has been sent from the states it will incur the charge.

Q: What if the part is no longer available?

A: If a part is no longer available or has been superseded, we will inform you the moment we find out and advise you of the new part number, or if we can't get the required part for you your account will be credited and we will inform you via email.

HOW DID IT ALL START ? >

How did it all start?

The Harley-Davidson Motor Company was incorporated on the 17th of September 1907 by William S Harley, Arthur Davidson and two other founders. Their workforce was already 18 strong and dealer recruitment had begun. The first Harley-Davidson was produced between 1901 and 1903 and was available to the public during 1903. The bike was built to be a racer and in 1908 Walter Davidson, Arthur's brother and co founder won the 7th annual Federation of American Motorcyclists Endurance and Reliability Contest. Harley-Davidson's motorcycles soon got a reputation of being tough and reliable.

1909 saw, for the first time, the introduction of spare Harley-Davidson parts.

By 1913 a racing department had been formed, with William Ottaway as its first assistant engineer to racing engineer William S Harley. Team Harley-Davidson soon became known as the wrecking crew due to their dominance of the sport.

During 1917 nearly one third of all the motor cycles are sold to the U.S military and by 1918 nearly half their production is sold to the U.S military. 1920 is a huge year as Harley-Davidson is the largest motorcycle manufacture in the world.

By the end of 1925 all Harley-Davidson motorcycles were produced with the teardrop shape fuel tank that we've come to recognize as a Harley trait.

In 1935 the Japanese motorcycle industry is founded as Harley-Davidson licenses the blue prints, tools, dies and machinery to the Sankyo Company of Japan. With the results being the Rikuo motorcycle.

During World War II civilian production is almost entirely suspended as motorcycles are produced for the U.S military.

By the end of the war in 1945 almost 90,000 motorcycles had produced for military use.

1953 sees Harley-Davidson celebrate 50 years of production and their largest competition Hendee Manufacturing, the creator of the Indian motorcycle goes out of business leaving Harley as the sole U.S manufacturer until 1999.

During 1964 electric start is introduced and in 1964 Harley-Davidson merges with the American Machine and Foundry Company (AMF), a longtime producer of leisure products.

The 80's sees the introduction of the Kevlar belt, replacing the chain as the final drive. The belt is cleaner running and needs less adjustment. 13 senior executives also decide to buy back AMF's share of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company.

1993 sees Harley purchase a minority stake in the Buell Motorcycle Company, and by 1998 they buy the remaining 49% and Erik Buell is named Chairman of Buell operations.

2003 sees over 250,000 people come to Milwaukee for the final stop of the Open Road Tour and the Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary Celebration and Party.
